I have a two year old daughter who constantly gets into my jewelry box. She admires herself in the mirror, and all the different shapes and colors of jewelry within the chest. Potentially ordinary to the average person, this little chest holds a lot of value to me. When I found it, I knew it was special. It was the perfect color, shape, and size. It was perfect to hold all the special treasures that I possessed. For years, I wanted this specific one jewelry box, however, was unable to find it. One day while going on a bargain search at a local Goodwill, there it was. I couldn't believe that someone gave away this precious treasure! Of course I had to dust it off and sanitize it. However, after a few minor repairs, voila! The jewelry box was mine. I treasure this special box even today. Though it didn't cost much to get it, it still took a long time to find it. Therefore it is worth my appreciation.
Pause: How do you view yourself? Do you see yourself as a precious treasure, or someone who has been used and abused? It is hard to view yourself in the light of how God views you when you have been tossed to the side as unwanted and no longer of good use. Like my jewelry box, though it was found in a discount store, I find much value in what was given away. Many men and women suffer greatly because they have been hurt in what was once a meaningful relationship. The questioning of self-worth occurs, low self esteem may occur also, in addition to not being sure of who you are anymore. Whatever the case, a treasure is still a treasure even if someone decides to throw it away. If you have gotten lost in the shuffle of bad relationships, or just want to find out who you really are, start looking within again. You are a special treasure. Some people do not hold the capacity to recognize fine art. Take a Picasso painting. Clearly abnormal to the untrained eye. Yet to the lover of art, it is beautiful, and so are you. So remember, you are a treasure to be sought after. Regardless of what occurs in your life, whether you are single, seeking love, or not, remember that there is a special treasure inside of you. Look within. You'd be surprised at what you will find.
